There simply wouldn't be a Nest if it weren't for our fearless founder, Dr. Kristi Wrightson! Read below to learn the one thing women can do to every day to improve their health, and more.
Q: What made you want to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine?
A: I was the caregiver for my grandmother and during that time saw the need for more detailed attention to patients as well as more time given to them. I felt like the conventional medical paradigm did not allow for doctors to give that care to patients and found an alternative.
Q: Did you have any outrageous or odd jobs before becoming a ND?
A: I have always worked since I was 14. My first year of college I went to a small school and did grounds keeping (weeding, gardening, mowing for $2.25 per hour!). My sister was a senior and I was a freshman and we got the same job so got to work together. When it rained and couldn’t do the grounds they had us weave baskets.
Q: What’s one thing women can do everyday to improve their overall health and wellbeing?
A: EAT YOUR VEGETABLES! 7-9 Servings per day to help increase nutrients and fiber.
Q: What health goals are you working on in your own life?
A: I am working on managing stress in a better way and making sure that my hormones are as balanced as I want my patients to be.
Q: What’s in your basket at the farmers’ market?
A: Always fresh lettuces, asparagus, eggs and spinach. Then it varies from season to season. I am loving peaches right now.
Q: Beach or mountains? Where can we find you on a Saturday morning?
A: Both! I hike most days with my dog Charlie and then take him to the beach on the weekends for a run and swim in the water.
